Limoncello is a unique lemon liqueur made from lemon zest. It’s mainly produced in Southern Italy, particularly in Sorrento, Capri, and along the Amalfi Coast , but also elsewhere in Southern Europe with a Mediterranean climate. I first fell in love with it decades ago during a brief rest in Amalfi and have enjoyed it ever since. Traditionally, limoncello is made with local lemons paired with locally made distilled alcohol. It’s made in small batches, locally produced. Sweet and slightly tart, it’s a perfect tipple for the end of a meal. It’s also rather strong, so not one to be swilled in wine glasses but sipped in liqueur glasses. It’s a perfect Christmas drink!
The liqueur is served chilled in small glasses.
